ANZAC at Shantytown 2019

ANZAC at Shantytown 2019
On Monday 13 Room 1 and 3 went to Shantytown to learn about toys that children played with back in WW1.

First we had to sort toys into what they were made of, play dominoes and cards. We made card towers and played Snap.

Then we went for a ride on the stream train all the way to the end of the line and back. The gentlemen helped the ladies get on and off the train safely.

Next we made cotton reel wind up tanks, played with paper dress up dolls, had war fights in gold-pans of sand and had a tea party and teddy bears picnic.

Then we played giant pick up sticks, (made out of bamboo) stilts, hula hoops (made out of supple Jack) skittles and horse shoe throws.

Lastly we watched a silent movie with Charlie Chaplin. He was in a lion cage, he tried to escape out a little door but there was a tiger on the other side. A little dog was barking at him and Charlie tried to stop the noise so the lion wouldn't wake up. A beautiful lady rescued him just in time and he ran away and climbed up a pole. He came down the pole like a fireman doing ballet.
